Bowser krymper Mario med vänner, och nu är det upp till spelaren att hitta alla stjärnor som behövs för att ställa allt till rätta igen.Förutom är skärmarna naturligtvis är mindre är Mario Party DS förvånansvärt likt alla Mario Party-spel till Nintendos stationära konsoler.Det finns ett ensamspel om man inte har några vänner, men självklart finns det också ett festligt flerspelarläge om man har tre partysugna kompisar. Tyvärr stöder inte spelet Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.Precis som man kan förvänta sig används både pekskärmen och mikrofonen rikligt i det här spelet. Spelaren ska bland annat blåsa ut ljus, åka bil och ta fotografier.
