Excerpt: The Action Theater (or Action Theatre in Canada), formerly known as the Paramount Action F/X Theater (spelled theatre in Canada), and before that Days of Thunder , is a simulator ride in Cedar Fair Parks with two sides – one is 3-dimensional, while the other shows films. They are found in the five former Paramount Parks properties of Canada’s Wonderland , Carowinds , California’s Great America , Kings Dominion , and Kings Island . History The theater opened in 1994, in the Paramount Parks , operating as a twin-sided motion simulator called Days Of Thunder, based on the movie Days of Thunder . This film ran from 1994 to 1997. In 1998, the building itself was renamed The Paramount Action F/X Theater to represent its changing films, and Days Of Thunder was replaced with James Bond 007: License to Thrill . Dino Island 3D was shown from 1999-2000, Meteor Attack in 2000, and Superstition in 2000 and 2002. In 2001, the theme parks presented The 7th Portal (based on the web comic by Stan Lee ) as a three dimensional ride in which the riders help the Data Raiders fight the Nullifiers. Excerpt: Collinsville (Canton, Connecticut) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia According to historian Diana Muir writing in Reflections in Bullough’s Pond, it was in Collinsville that Elisha Root invented the important industrial technique of die casting. Root was employed by Samuel W. Collins, whose Collins and Company Works was the largest manufacturer of axes in the nineteenth century. Collinsville hosts an annual Halloween Parade in the historic town. The Parade is held on the last Saturday of October at 7 p.m. Children’s activities begin at 6pm. Collinsville was voted one of the Top “10 Coolest Small Towns in America” to visit in the U.S. in an article in a September issue of Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel magazine. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km), of which, 3.1 square miles (8.0 km) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.1 km) of it (12.46%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,686 people, 1,080 households, and 723 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 871.8 people per square mile (336.7/km).
